I've just started a creative writing degree and have recently read the first poem of Philip Sydney's Astrophil and Stella. I haven't read a great deal of poetry in the past and I really connected with this one, so I've started reading the rest of Astrophil and Stella.

I really like your blog about this poem. I agree with your idea of Sydney's poems being "psychological models, showing love as an internal battle", particularly love of writing and poetry.

Cheers
LisaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17810836453204153663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5383119466961870537.post-80177415402287762202015-02-25T08:53:24.143-05:002015-02-25T08:53:24.143-05:00You're probably going to be the only person wh...You're probably going to be the only person who even bothers to read my analysis of Astrophil and Stella. Not that I can blame others, the write-ups are very long and doubtful to interest many people since it is "renaissance poetry." Do take your time, I would value any kind of feedback you would be so kind to share.

Pffffttttt...smarter? Not by a long shot, you flatter me. I've figured out, from this post and your newest one, that you're MUCH smarter than I am. I'm going to have to take about a week to read through your most recent post.

I knew a little about Sidney's military career but nothing about his poetry. Thanks for expanding my knowledge!Cleohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13152128642971612433noreply@blogger.com
