It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It's been a while since I last participated in this weekly meme hosted by Sheila from Book Journey so it's time to get back into the swing of things. Also, feel free to participate in my Blog Hop Giveaway for the chance to win some book prizes!

Ok, back to business:

I started this one today on my lunch-break at work and so far it is pretty good. I really enjoyed The Great Gatsby and Fitzgerald's writing style is elegantly sophisticated as to be expected. Looking forward to reading more later tonight. Has anyone else read this?

  3. I love the Great Gatsby--have read it several times but then nothing more by FSF for quite a while. A few years ago I tried to read This Side of Paradise but it wasn't working for me at the moment so I had to set it aside--nothing wrong with the book but timing was off. This year, though I did read his novella May Day and liked it quite a lot. Will have to give his work another go this year I think!

  4. Hello Danielle! It's been over a year since reading Gatsby myself, which is why I figured it was time to try some of his other works. The problem is that he set the bar so high with Gatsby that I am worried "Tender is the Night" will just pale in comparison. It started off really strong but 1/4 in and the pace is really slowing down but I'll stick with it for now and see if it improves...

It's strange how timing and your mood can radically alter one's appreciation of a literary work or author. Cool, I will have to eventually check out "May Day" one of these days. :)

  6. Oooh, what am I reading?

    God Revised
Energy Medicine (which I'm reading with my mother and daughter-in-law)
    Mindfulness Yoga

And I have some drawing books I'm probably going to pull off the shelf sometime today.

  7. I've read Zelda's Save Me The Waltz, which was apparently her version of the story (there was a whole big issue over it), but it was slow and very hard to get through. Tender is the Night is supposed to be really nice, though! I look forward to your review.

  8. Hello Priya! Oh cool, I had no idea Zelda wrote her own account of married life as well. To be honest, I am struggling a little bit with "Tender is the Night" because the narrative is pretty dull. From a stylistic or aesthetic perspective the novel is admirable but the story and characters are not the least compelling.
